Selected screens
This document present some selected screens of the LIS system. You may wish you see:
The basic screen of the LIS system is shown on the figure below. In orther to give an idea of how the system works we will present some other screens of the system

Some data entry screens
The screen below shows how one can select some data from a table (in this case language codes). After selecting some codes one can insert them to the field "Languages f the paper".
Fig. 2 Lookup table with language codes
Below another lookup table. This time it's a table prividing a set of links. To link a “paper” record (analytic level) to a Monograph record one has to invoke a table and find an appropriate item, as on figure below. In addition to the book title you can see the record from a table by using More function. If a needed record has not been found you can create at this point the missing monographic record (option Create). Once you finish the record you come back to the original analytic level with the link filled in the Link field.

And the screen below shows you a structure of the thesaurus invoked by F1 key while being in the descriptor field. Also non-descriptors are in the table, but if you select a non-descriptor for indexing, the system will automatically translate it to the descriptor. One can also arrange the thesaurus table in such a way that you see it in English and select English terms, but the system translates your choice to French descriptors which are located to the decriptors field.

And when you complete the record and exit, it becomes immediately available in all the search/browse tables, so you can select the record for updating by a title, ISBN or author, as you wish. The access to the last updated record is direct (also few days later) just by using the option Last Record Modified.
Search screens
Assume that we are going to search in the MON records (Books). When the option Dictionary supported search is selected from the menu as on Fig. 1 another menu appears, showing all possible record types.

Fig. 5 Selection of search aspects
Now, we select MON and as, a result we see the search aspects for searching books. Once a search aspect is selected, a table appears (dictionary of the field - see Fig. 6). The terms from the dictionary can be picked up to construct a query. They can be assigned to the standard CDS/ISIS Boolean operators (+ for OR, * for AND, ^ for ANDNOT, etc.). At the same time the automatically constructed query is shown on the screen within a query window.

Fig. 6 An example of creating a query
Frequently used queries can be stored in the QUERY database, from where they can be invoked whenever needed.
