Establishing Intranets for Management

The Institute has developed a methodology composed of procedures and tools for setting up intranets aimed at managing projects. A project management intranet covers all the project steps starting with a project registration, through its appraisal, execution and evaluation. The methodology has been applied for establishing a project management system of the Polish-German Cooperation Foundation based in Warsaw, Poland.

At present, owing to the Foundation’s requirements the system is bilingual, namely it works in Polish and German. However, it can be readily adopted to any language (the platform is language independent). The core element of the methodology in terms of a database support is the SQL server. The database includes a strong data validation facility in order to provide enhanced semantic control of data. The intranet is based on the Windows NT 4.0 platform. A mechanism for defining and generating complex reports has been developed.
