Export/System Utilities
Note:
In order to export data to the publisher you have to use the DOS ASFISIS software. Below you will find HELP on how to do it.Please note:
Each time you export records (create an ISO file) to send to the publisher CSA, you need to identify the MFNs (Master File Numbers) of the range of records in order to assign them the correct sequential FRN (Final Record Number) numbering. This is because the ISIS utilities programmes contained in the software only recognize the MFNs. To identify the MFNs, click on the "Edit Record(s) by browse" button, type the first TRN (Temporary Record Number) of the range of records to be exported and then click on the "Browse" button. The records will be displayed showing both the TRNs and the MFNs.It is also important to record the MFNs and the TRNs assigned to the records. In this way, the next time you send a batch of records to CSA you will be able to identify which is the next MFN range that should be exported and which is the first FRN to be assigned to the batch.
To export a batch of records to the publisher (CSA) perform the following:
Check if all records to be exported in a selected range of records are completed (uncompleted records are marked as T-temporary);
For the sake of the completeness we describe here the DOS procedure. It consists of two steps:If necessary, complete all the records within the range to be exported;
After having completed all uncompleted records use DOS Export/System Utilities to export records from ASFA database. You should apply the same procedure, as in ASFISIS.
A. Assign the FRN numbers to the records within a rangeAssign the FRN numbers to the records to be exported (before exporting and dispatching a batch of ASFA records to the publisher (CSA), it is necessary that you assign to the records the correct sequential numbering (FRN) (click here to see the reasons))
Open the WWWIsis Asfa folder icon (located on the desktop of the WWW-ISIS-ASFA server)
The records in the range specified have been correctly allocated sequential numbers and are now ready for export to the publisher, CSA.Double-click on the icon Isis and you will be presented with the CDS/ISIS Main Menu
Select < U > System Utilities Services
Select < S > System Management ASFISIS
Select < A > Change FRN fixed value for a range of MFNs
At the prompt < Starting MFN > type the MFN to be selected as the first FRN in the range and press <Enter>
At the prompt < End MFN > type the last MFN in the range and press < Enter >
At the prompt < Input Centre/Year code > type the Input Centre Code and Current Year (e.g. FA02) and press < Enter >
At the next prompt < FRN to start from > type the number to be allocated as FRN to the first record in the range (e.g. 1 in the case of the first batch of input for the current year or the number following the last one of the previous batch) and press <Enter>
Once the program has finished, the prompt <Ready!> comes up on the screen. Press <Enter> to return to the ASFISIS System Management Tools Menu, select < X > twice to return to the CDS/ISIS Main Menu and then <X > to exit
B. Export the records within the range
Open the WWWIsis Asfa folder icon (located on the desktop of the WWW-ISIS-ASFA server)
double-click on the icon Isis and you will be presented with the CDS/ISIS Main Menu
Select < M> Master File Services
Select < E > Export CDS/ISIS file from the Master File Services Menu. The Data Interchange Services - Export parameters table now appears on the screen. The Database name ASFA will appear as default. Press < Enter >
The output ISO file name CSA.ISO will appear as default. Assign a name to the file, which may include the Input Centre Code + Year + Number of Batch, such as FA02-1.ISO, FA02-2.ISO, etc. Note: the length of the first part of the name should not exceed 6 characters
The records may be sent to the Publisher CSA either by mailing the diskette containing the ISO file, or by transferring the ISO file via FTP or sending it via e-mail, as a zipped attachment.Press <ENTER> until the cursor arrives at the <MFN limits > field. Then type the range of records to be exported, e.g. 1/80
Press <PgDn> and <Enter> so that the prompt < Backup drive and/or directory? > appears. Type A: (assuming the floppy disk drive has been designated as A:) and press <Enter>
At the prompt < Press CR when ready or C to cancel > press < Enter >
Once the procedure is completed, a prompt indicating the number of records exported will appear on the screen. These records have been downloaded on to the diskette in the floppy disk drive in a file named as in p. 5 above e.g. FA02-1.ISO
Press < Enter > to return to the Master File Services Menu, select <X> or press< Esc > to return to the CDS/ISIS Main Menu and then select < X > to exit
